Five Songs That Got Me Through 2016

I wanted to end 2016 on a lighter note than usual. Music means a lot to everyone in my home and it’s been a revolutionary year for me. My daughters have a soul for really good music and have introduced me to some of theirs while I’ve been able to gift them some of mine.

Their music has found its way into my playlist and into my life. We even went to a couple of concerts together this year to see their favorite bands. So, without too much explanation, I’d like to share five songs that got me through 2016. (Yes, I realize that some aren’t from 2016…)

Hallelujah, Panic! At the Disco

Selected Lyric:

Stop thinking about
The bullets from my mouth
I love the things you hate about yourself
Just finished a daydream
Who were you trying to be

Migraine, Twenty One Pilots

Selected Lyric:

I am not as fine as I seem
Pardon, me for yelling and telling you green gardens
Are not what’s growing in my psyche, it’s a different me
A difficult beast feasting on burnt down trees
Freeze frame, please let me paint a mental picture portrait
Something you won’t forget, it’s all about my forehead
And how it is a door that hold’s back contents
That makes Pandora’s box contents look non-violent

Cecilia and the Satellite, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

Selected Lyric:

For all the things my hands have held, the best by far is you

This is Gospel, Panic! At the Disco

Selected lyric:

Don’t try to sleep through the end of the world
Bury me alive
‘Cause I won’t give up without a fight

Not Today, Twenty One Pilots

Selected Lyric:

I’m, I’m out of my mind, ooh
I’m, I’m not seeing things right, ooh
I waste all this time trying to run from you
But I’m, I’m out of my mind
